Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2024

This is the privacy policy for HolistCTM, the blog and resource site operated by Michael Torres. I take your privacy seriously, and this page explains what information is collected when you visit holistctm.com, how it’s used, and the choices you have.

I’ve tried to keep this as short and readable as possible—without the legal jargon that usually makes these pages feel like a contract you never signed. If anything is unclear, you can always reach out.

Who I Am

I’m Michael Torres, the person behind this site. HolistCTM is a blog about commercial real estate and business space management. It’s not a company, not a data broker, not an ad network. Just a place where I share what I’ve learned over the years—and occasionally hear from readers like you.

What Information This Site Collects

I don’t go out of my way to collect data, but some information comes through automatically or when you choose to interact:

  • Comments. If you leave a comment on a post, you’ll be asked for a name and email address. That’s it. Your name appears publicly; your email never does. I don’t use it for marketing or share it with anyone.
  • Contact form. If you use the contact form, your name, email, and message are sent to me directly. I’ll only use that information to reply to you—no newsletters, no lists, no follow-ups unless you ask for them.
  • Analytics. Like most websites, I use a privacy-focused analytics tool (Plausible, not Google Analytics). It tells me how many people visit, which articles are read, and roughly where visitors come from—but no personal identifiers, no cookies, no tracking across sites. I don’t see who you are, just that someone in Chicago read the article about lease audits.
  • Hosting logs. My hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP addresses, browser types, timestamps) for a short period. These are used for security and troubleshooting, not for profiling visitors.

Cookies

This site doesn’t use tracking cookies. If you leave a comment, a small functional cookie may remember your name and email for your next visit—purely for convenience. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time, and everything will still work fine.

Third-Party Services

I don’t embed third-party trackers, social media pixels, or advertising scripts. Occasionally, I may link to a relevant book on a retailer’s site or reference a tool I’ve used. Those links are just links—they don’t tell the retailer you came from here. I also don’t use affiliate programs that drop cookies.

How Long Data Is Kept

If you leave a comment, it stays on the site indefinitely unless you ask me to remove it. Contact form messages are kept in my email archive for reference, but you can request deletion at any time. Server logs are rotated and deleted automatically by my hosting provider after 30 days.

Your Rights

You can ask me to:

  • Confirm whether I hold any personal data about you.
  • Provide a copy of that data.
  • Correct or update it.
  • Delete it entirely.

Just send an email to [email protected] with your request. I’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe—usually a day or two. There’s no fee for this, and I won’t make it difficult.

Data Security

This site runs over HTTPS, and I keep the software up to date. I don’t sell, rent, or trade your information. If a data breach ever occurred, I’d notify affected users directly and take steps to secure the site immediately.

Children’s Privacy

This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has shared personal data through the site, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Changes to This Policy

If anything changes—for example, if I ever added a newsletter signup—I’d update this page and note the date of revision. The current version will always be posted here. Significant changes would be highlighted clearly, not buried.

I built this site to share what I know, not to build a database. That’s the honest truth.
